The Clan Paintball Team (Scotland UK) was originally formed as The Cameronians in 1987 by Scottish Player Sandy Hubbard......waaaay back when pump-action markers were still being used and wreck ball (woodland) was the only tournament scene available.
With Paintball put on hold in the whole of Scotland in the early-mid 90s, the Cameronian lads found it difficult to train and travel to tourneys, and so the Cameronians too were forced into quietude.
However, Paintball came back to Scotland with a vengence a few years later, and in 1997 the Cameronians were back to fight again - a little behind their other UK competitors, but no less keen to play with the best...and strive to be the best.
With Electro-pneumatic markers tearing up the playing fields - which the Cameronians had never seen at that time - Tournament Paintball had become a furious, fast-paced speedway of fast-flying pellets....and fast-footed opposition. It was a learning curve alright, but with Scottish determination and pride, one that was swiftly met. So, upgrading their kit, and throwing themselves at as many UK tournaments as they could (travelling up and down that blasted M6 time and again), the guys soon started to be seen as a challenge to their rivals. The Clan Paintball Team had members from Glasgow, Fife, Dundee, West Lothian, East Lothian and Edinburgh, and yet play all over the UK and Europe.
In 1990, the Cameronians changed their name to CLAN - for the benefit of those who couldn't pronounce it ;o)! ..and continued upward to compete in the higher divs of the UK Masters, the World Cup, Millenium Events and in more recent years, the PA League - rising to Div 1 for 2006. A team certainly not to be under-estimated by its rivals, the Clan are proud to be known as the best Paintball Team to be born from Scotland's loins...but the guys aren't stopping there.
Having had a slow 2006, with half the team out of play, this year the guys are getting geared up to do some serious damage at the PA X-Ball League, and other Global events (Clan will be the first Scottish Team to compete in an NPPL Event, USA). With fantastic new sponsorships from Planet and PMI, along with new signings for 2007...not to mention a dedicated Reball Centre in construction for training (as the weather here's not the best!), the Team are looking forward to a promising 2007 season, playing among the best of the best.
